About the Challenge

#NotAloneChallenge is a mental health campaign to remind people they’re not alone while providing a free mental health toolkit. The challenge also helps to raise funds to provide mental health programming to those who need.

The Inspiring Children Foundation, in partnership with Co-Founder & CEO of MTV and iHeartMedia Bob Pittman, and Grammy nominated singer-songwriter and mental health pioneer Jewel, joined forces with hundreds of thought leaders, CEOs, celebrities, artists, musicians, and mental health experts to create one of the largest and most wide-reaching mental health campaigns in history. The #NotAloneChallenge achieved 3.2 billion social media impressions and gathered a diverse group of thought leaders and ambassadors to advocate for mental health. See the full list here.

Much of this challenge was co-created and run by Jewel and the youth in her foundation. Much of their success is thanks to corporate partners such as iHeart, Meta, Chegg, Zappos, Carsaver, and Saks Fifth Avenue among others.

Why The Challenge

Mental Health, particularly Youth Mental Health, has been declared a national emergency. At the time of writing:

  • 1 in 5 teens either currently have, or have experienced, a seriously debilitating mental illness

  • Suicide rates have increased 500% in ages 10-12 years old

  • 60% of major depression in youth is untreated

Singer-songwriter Jewel and her Inspiring Children Foundation started the #NotAloneChallenge to raise awareness around mental health and to offer free behavioral health tools online to “mental health deserts” in underserved communities.

The Inspiring Children Foundation was founded over 22 years ago to help at-risk youth suffering with suicidal ideation, severe anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Through this unique program, young lives are transformed.

Our Solution

Our goal is to digitally scale best-in-class, proven behavioral and mental health tools. These include tools informed by evidence based practices such as; CBT + DBT + ACT, group therapy, trauma treatment, peer-to-peer support and community to help with a variety of conditions.

Over 22 years, The Inspiring Children Foundation has been a pioneer and created a best-in-class model helping teens & adults with suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges. With your help, they can scale these tools through a variety of platforms.

Funds raised will also benefit other leading mental health organizations that are focused on more than merely raising awareness, but offering solutions.
